Our Story
A young Teresa Marzetti and her husband Joseph arrived in the United States in 1896 and opened a small, Italian restaurant in Columbus, Ohio. Teresa and Joseph worked for Joseph’s father, John Marzetti, a prominent Italian real-estate developer, retail merchant and confectioner.
After the death of John in 1899 and Joseph in 1911, Teresa was left to run the restaurant on her own. She grew Marzetti’s to become a local favorite, especially among The Ohio State University students, and soon, earned a four-star distinction and the reputation of being one of the finest dining experiences in the Midwest.
In 1969, the Marzetti family decided to sell the business to The Marzetti Company (formerly known as Lancaster Colony Corporation.) After Teresa's death in 1972, the restaurant closed forever, but her passion for quality lives on in Marzetti's many salad dressings and other specialty food products.
The Marzetti Company manufactures and sells specialty food products. Our retail brands include Marzetti®, New York Bakery™ and Sister Schubert’s®, in addition to exclusive license agreements for Olive Garden® dressings, Chick-fil-A® sauces and dressings, Buffalo Wild Wings® sauces, Arby’s® sauces, Subway® sauces, and Texas Roadhouse® steak sauces and frozen rolls. Our foodservice business supplies many of the top restaurant chains in the United States with dressings, sauces, breads and frozen pastas.
